England squad already delayed - now wellbeck out

So woy was due to announce his squad today but has delayed til next week to 'assess injuries'
I assumed he'd meant Henderson, shaw and a look at Wilshere. But now wellbeck is out for 9 months - hope for Carroll perhaps with only Kane, Vardy, Rooney and sturridge ahead of him?

Naming it this week always seemed a bit odd with players having another game to get through.
As I understood it you don't have to name a squad until May 31
Coleman has named 28 or 29 for Wales (excluding Bale who is in the Champions League final) & will make it 23 after the warm ups.
Hodgson gave the impression he didn't want to do that as it might mean picking some 'outsiders' in form who might embarrass his favourite boys.

Remember the talk about a year ago that players would only be taken if proven to be fully fit?
We are now delaying the squad annoucement FOUR days - surely if you're not fit now, you're not going to be fit on Monday?
